Default where to got a replacement remote?

My wife's fob came apart when she took it out from the ignition the other day which happened a day after her battery died. I guess a clip must be broken as when I push it back together it will not hold.

I'm assuming the dealer is not the cheapest option. I know folks get replacements through e-bay. Do they have serial numbers to match the car and can I program it or do I need to take it to the dealer?

Alternatively I can get a replacement battery and super glue it together which should be good for another 4-6 years.

Default ebay...

you can insert your key and to the replacement fob. The coding for the doors and frequency is in the car book. However, the end that the key is in also has the immobilizer resistor. This is what codes it to the car's security. This needs to be coded by the dealer.

Default Avoid buying from: mykeyless user. His keys are advertised as "good" but are more than worn down.

And the he uses ebay's feedback to blackmail you to leaving positive comments.

Default My wife lost hers. I have now bought two off of ebay in about the last 3 weeks

thought it would be good to have an extra. The first one I bought is fairly well worn and the p/n is an exact match. I am pretty picky, ok very picky, so I found another one the seller said was new. It was, but the p/n is different and I believe it is for an '04. I have yet to have either programmed and cut. From what I have found so far is that there are codes the dealer needs to look up to re-program. First one I paid $49, the secound was cheaper at $25
plus shipping, of coarse.

Oh, ya. I have an '01

Default only two on ebay for $99 (new blanks)

I will check how much the dealer want to extract for one. The key piece seems to be where it's broken which would make mating it to an ebay bought one difficult. The fact the immobilizer is in the key part is good as this is why the key still works. When I saw the key I was actually surprised it worked.

I will probably lend her my key until something comes up on e-bay.

BTW it seems the form factor is HAA as it's marked on the blade and it's mentioned on the one listed on e-bay. What's the part number though? I looked at the sites on allroadfaq.com and when I search I can't find the key to get a part number.

Default funny how it was the first hit when I searched. Thanks for the heads up

Other than wear do they work though? It's pretty cheap to have around as a backup, mind you the service key would do as well for that purpose.

I haven't programmed it yet. It's a new blade, so I have to go get it cut and then program it.

Default I have a fob and uncut HAA blank, $50 shipped

My car only came with one key, so I had to have another made
I bought new key from, but forgot to bring the 3rd set in when getting it done (thye have to code all the keys at once $125)

Orig owner was nice enuf to send me the keys he had, unfortunately none of them worked
I have the fob and I think that it will work if coded by dealer
I also bought an uncut blank (aftermarket on ebay from overseas, high rated seller, dont remember who)

Will sell fob + blank for $50, and I take paypal, you'll still have to get it coded tho
