Default Will the old girl get indigestion?

124k old and completely stock. Would chipping at this age (the car's) be especially risky? (engine valve train, bearings, transmission, clutch, driveline) For some reason I've been developing a hankering for a power upgrade lately. 2001, MT. Just wondering.

Nah, she's still got a lot of life left in her. There are plenty of B5S4 guys that chip over 100K

You do have it broken in. But...are you sure you need more power?

Default ....couldn't help it given today's "climate" on the board....

I too have been wondering that from both a personal and car owning standpoint...can an old "girl" actually think about chipping her "old car"??

Default Don't do it.

You will be kicking yourself for not doing it years ago.

you could lose your turbos any day chipped or not or you could run it another 50,000 miles chipped or not.

Default The internals are strong as hell

people push & track 500+ crank HP. The K03's are good turbos for their size, but have an problem by design in the passenger side compressor. The oil feed line has a rather narrow radius bend and is real close to some high temps.

At anything over .8 to 1 bar they run REAL high shaft speeds wich lead to oil starvation and cavitating of the oil.

If you have owned the car since day one and have done better than regular oil changes then yes, go for it. Your turbos could go under factory boost just as likely under "chipped" boost.

The real issue is your drivetrain, CV's, Engine mmounts, tranny(TIP), Clutch(6M) and anything elese thats duty is played more upon with more power.

How much money you got?

Be prepared for anything, even stock it's still an Audi and requires alot of love(money)
