I have a factory unit that plugs into the OBD II port. Works great when I leave car at airport.
After coming home to a dead allroad twice I got one of these from the dealer. A week does not seem to be an issue, but longer trips, especially in winter, require a charger in my allroad. And yes the battery is relatively new.
