Default Worth it to try to find K04's while in Europe?

So I'm in Italy for a few days, and I'm having trouble finding K04's stateside.

Is it worth it to, while in country, hit an Audi dealership or parts counter and find these? It would be a stretch, but heck, I don't know - maybe they're worth it to try to find here.

PS, I was prompted to imagine this possibility by seeing a hot new B7 RS4 avant earlier tonight. Hot. Guy got stalled at an intersection, and then lit up that throaty V8 on the way out. Insanely hot.

Too much vino tinto and cafe doppio, or is this a good idea?

Craigslist Italy? Maybe you could find a used set.

Nope - would get distracted anyway by W4W (like always). I'll check tomorrow for any wisdom.

Default Why don't you try to find an RS4 2.7T engine? Here is a B7 RS4 available for pick up in Germany

Couldn't find a 2.7T so quickly...<ul><li><a href="http://cgi.ebay.de/Audi-RS4-B7-Motor-Getriebe-Kabelbaum-usw_W0QQitemZ150056234900QQihZ005QQcategoryZ61286Q QrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem">http://cgi.ebay.de/Audi-RS4-B7-Motor-Getriebe-Kabelbaum-usw_W0QQitemZ150056234900QQihZ005

Default If I had to guess I would say this idea is no good.

Prices there are likely to be higher even before added VAT. I suppose you could perhaps try to engineer a way to avoid VAT, but that would require paperwork and some way to verify that you are taking the product out of the country.

It isn't <b>that</b> hard to find K04s here right now is it?

Default A couple of years ago, when my a4's K03 went, I wanted to upgrade to a K04. It took ...

... a couple of weeks before I was able to track _any_ down in the US.

Default I know there was an availability slump at one time, but it turned around after a while.

I wonder if it is happening again?

Default Yeah, I think it's cyclical. The explanation I was given was that KKK next production run ...

... of K04s was delayed a bit.
