Default Winter Tires

This (non-RS) GT came with the summer 'performance' tires. Except for the 'performance' tires on a C7 Corvette which I rarely drove in winter conditions, I have no experience with these. Especially no experience with them on the GT. So I'm thinking seriously about a set of winter-only tires on their own set of wheels. I'm in SE PA and it can get cold here sometimes, but nothing like the upper Midwest. I'm sort of under the impression that the summer tires turn to rock or something in cold weather. But then, come to think of it, the Corvette had no adverse effects from cold (and dry) weather. PENNDOT and the local communities are pretty good about keeping roads clear and I rarely/never have to go anywhere there might be ice or snow to navigate through. OTOH, there are plenty of occasions where black ice is present.

Audi sent an email promotion on a set of Pirelli tires on alloy wheels with TPMS for about $4200. Tirerack prices out a similar set on cheaper wheels and Hakkapeliitta tires for about $2500.

Audi's wheels/tires are the same size as stock f/r. The Tirerack set is four of 245/45-20. Is there any reason to believe that these would not work well enough given that they're limited use? I don't push the car to its limits, ever.

Opinions?

I went with the Audi wheels / Pirelli winter tires which I purchased from the dealer (285/40/20 tires on the rear) and they were excellent when I was caught in a snow squall in upstate NJ. I don't see why the 245/45/20's all around would not work.
Where in Bucks county are you? I'm in Northampton township and I've never seen another GT on the road. I'm a Tango red regular GT (non RS). We should meet sometime!

Pipersville. Have not driven your way since I got the car in March. What dealer do you use? Sloan isn't on my list.

Living in CO I knew I'd need winters and also and got the OE set from Audi while they were on sale for $3600.
I have not used them yet, but I expect them to be up to snuff like most performance winter tires.

I'm not 100% sure on the 245/45/20's all around though.
The 285 has a significant load rating difference 103=1929 lbs vs 108=2205 lbs
I'm not sure if there is more load over the rear axle than the front or if Audi just staggered the tires for handling reasons.

Also to the OP. Please don't consider driving below 45ºF with the summer tires and also Hakkapeliitta's are likely overkill for mostly clear roads. They are really meant for like driving on frozen lakes.

FWIW I think the Audi discount shifted to Audi Fredrick MD now. I'm not sure what they would charge you to ship them, but also it might be worth a few hours trip to go pick them up for $3769 or use that as a negotiating point for your local dealer.

Welp, I went with the genuine Audi setup. Bought from dealer in MD, but it looks like the price just dropped at my local dealer, Audi Allentown, to $3542. This is the link to the package. You may get your local dealer on this page. IDK. I paid $3680 plus $158 to UPS for shipping. I doubt that I'd have been able to fit all of these into the car, so the shipping was the right option.

The package is VERY nice. I'm glad I didn't try to fool around with Tire Rack. Wheels are MUCH better than those pictured on Audi's product page. Pics attached.

Nice.
Smart move.
Congrats.
Yes the picture is just a stock photo of any ol' wheels. These are OE 20" standard e-tron GT wheels no black or gray painted insets.
I like the small touch of the TPMS stems and caps are silver on the winter setup and black on the BO package.

Interesting for comparison my S6 had 20x9 HRE FF01's
They were 55 lbs with Michelin PS4S's
I see the e-tron GT wheel/tire combo is significantly heavier. (makes sense in the rear being much larger)
FWIW
The P Zero Winter tires themselves are 27 lbs front and 31 lbs rear.
Making the wheels weigh 32.5 lbs front and 34 lbs rear which is quite beefy. (HRE's weighed 27 lbs)
I also had some inexpensive lightweight 24lb 20x9 wheels and I'm pretty sure the fully forged BBS FI-R in 20x9 is a scant 18 lbs! (But it won't support the GT's mass)
So, a lot of room for improvement at least in rotating mass department.

Default TPMS on Porsche Taycan wheel

II'm looking for a cheaper alternative for my Winter setup. I saw a set of 19 for a Porsche taycan brand new. Do you know if de TPMS from porsche will work with my 2022 E-Tron GT?

THANK YOU

AFAIK they both use the 433Mhz Tire pressure Sensor but I cannot guarantee they are compatible.
