I do belive Audi planned to release a facelift. It has even been said by the CEO Duesman and Audi has released official pictures of it. The rumors say it will be called Q8. It can make sense if they just postponed it for 6 months or so then they can run two different versions of the same time., Difficult to explain there would be two different versions of 23. 23 starts production in week 26 this year. This goes for all markets.

Yes, officially, Audi planned to release a 2022 version of the Etron Quattro 55 and follow that with a 2023 Etron Quattro 55 (still on the MLB-evo hybrid platform). In the meantime, Audi would come out with the Q4 Etron (on the EV MEB platform) and Q6 Etron (on the EV PPE platform). In the 2024/25 time frame, Audi would introduce the Q8 Eton on the on the PPE EV platform and it would officially "replace" the Etron Quattro 55. COVID and the Parts Shortage completely wreaked that plan--too many models coming out too fast and jamming up against each other.

All sorts of rumor started running rampant regarding the 2023MY, especially regarding some big boost in Range, which proved to be just that--rumor. It never made sense to me that the 2023MY would be anything more than a minor update of the 2022. Why would Audi dump so much effort and technology onto a car built on a platform that was going to be discontinued in a couple of years? I don't think Audi has changed a thing regarding the 2023MY. I think the 2023MY announced was exactly what that they planned all along. The COVID/Parts issue has resulted in the 2022MY and 2023MY's jamming up against each other. Likely, now the 2023 will be coming on full steam about the time the Q8 would be introduced. Maybe, now, Audi will reduce the price on the 2023 and offer it in parallel with the Q8 for awhile. I don't think Audi would delay the Q8 introduction.

I don't believe there have been any plans to deliver Q8 on PPE. Audi has confirmed there will be an Audi Q8 e-tron in 2026. That would be on the SSP platform. But lately the rumors of renaming e-tron to Q8 e-tron for 2023 model came along to better match naming for Q4 and Q6.
If the plans have changed only Audi knows but the 2023 e-tron is the same as 2022. No new options or anything.

I believe there will be an upgraded MLB-EVO car with a larger battery. When it arrives or if it will be called Q8 e-tron is yet to be known. They need to do something to compete with IX.

I think this is correct and the existing MLB-Evo platform will get 3-4 "facelifted" years before the introduction of a EV specific platform for this car. Initially this was going to be "MY23": but this could be EU MY23, not North American MY23: these could be 6 months apart... The "Q8 naming thing" is a separate discussion and yes - I agree - it's probably going to happen to help relieve some confusion with E-tron, E-tron Q6 and E-tron Q4.

Reading through the responses on this thread, it's pretty clear that none of us have an answer to what is really happening with the 2023 E Tron - great to see the varied opinions.... clearly, we'd all agree - as much as we love our E trons, it'd be great to get mileage over the 300 mark and would make them competitive with the new breeds.

For me the VIN number decides model year. And from a given week this year all e-tron produces will have an O as the 10 digit. It is then an MY2023. This goes for all markets.

This seems to pretty much put a point on it, at least in the USA. https://www.media.audiusa.com/en-us/releases/518

The important bits for this forum:

2023 e-tron / e-tron Sportback
The brand’s first fully electric SUV returns for the 2023 model year with new trim enhancements. The previously optional black headliner has now been made standard for the 2023 e-tron Sportback. Other standard features for the 2023 e-tron Sportback occur largely in the Prestige trim level. Standard on the e-tron Sportback Prestige trim are 22-inch 5-spoke-Turbine design bi-color wheels, dynamic orange front and rear brake calipers, rear side airbags with illuminated safety belt buckles, and Digital Matrix-design headlights. Additionally, the Black optic exterior package on the e-tron Sportback comes standard with the Prestige trim level. The sport-oriented e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback see the addition of carbon square structure inlays and the LED interior lighting plus package as standard. Rounding out the changes, the Prestige trim level of both the e-tron S and e-tron S Sportback now receive Digital Matrix-design LED headlights as included equipment.

Also, for the 2023 model year, the potential federal tax credit of up to $7,500 is still expected to be available to customers for both models.

And then there is this as of this morning to kinda support what some of us are saying ie, the Rumors of Refresh may be true....(in other words, the "updated" 2023 Etron Order Guide with no changes is a moot point right now)

Weird, when I click that link it goes to FInanical Times, but yeah I read that yesterday. Don't get me wrong, I'd love an updated one.

Unfortunately it'll come to late for my needs, and I'm bummed.

@TTom TTR I think that I recall you mentioning it in another thread, but what are your requirements?
