Default Boost Mode Issue?

Hey All. First time posting to the boards. I am hoping someone can help me. I purchased an Audi Etron a couple of weeks ago, and have been loving it ever since. I usually do a lot of city driving or highway peak traffic hour driving, so I've been keeping the car in D mode.

When I test drove the car however, it was in S mode, and the "boost mode" was lit up with a green bar.

Today, I was coming home and wanted to open the car up a little, so I switched to S mode, and there was no boost mode available. It was still grayed out. Flooring the accelerator didn't make a difference. The car never transitioned into the Boost Mode.

I looked in the owners manual, and on pg. 89 it only mentions that Boost Mode is dependent on charge level of the battery or temperature of the battery. There isn't specifics. I still had about 46 percent of the battery level left, and its currently about 48 degrees F here. I can't imagine the battery is overheating at that temperature. The battery also isn't critically low.

Has anyone had similar issues? I am assuming something is wrong, and I have to take it into the dealer.

Thoughts?

Thanks.

I had that happen to me a couple of times, most recently today. It was cold-ish, I had not been driving for long and I was in “efficiency” mode. I believe that until the battery warms up, full power is not available. The user manual has some vague language to that effect (it doesn’t clearly spell out the conditions).

It’s also possible that in “efficiency mode” (utterly useless setting, i.m.o.) the boost function is always disabled.

I switched back to Dynamic/Sport and the boost came back.

My understanding is that the boost mode is only available when in Sport mode, regardless of the other drive select settings. This did happen to me a few weeks ago, but only happened once, and not since. Car had 75% charge, and it was 60ish degrees out. I was in Dynamic/Sport, and not only did I not have boost mode available, it only showed me as having 75% of total power available. Toggling between auto and sport didn't correct the problem. Like I said though, it was an isolated event.

That is correct. I tried it today, enabling Sport in any mode enabled the boost. I had just left the house (cold battery), 45 degree weather ... no obvious rhyme or reason to the unavailability of boost, which is rather crap if you happen to need it in a pinch.

All has to do with pack temp. Cold batteries can't deliver as much current. Outside temp will affect pack temp, but so will your previous driving, state of charge etc.
