Clearly VW group as a whole just isn't good at software design -"Germany’s Manager Magazine reports today that Volkswagen is struggling with software problems for its ID3 all-electric car. According to the report, the ID3 will be built for months with an incomplete software architecture that could affect up to 20,000 electric cars. These units, intended for sales in Europe and not the US, will require a manual software update."

All software updates and electro magnetic shielding done today.
lost adaptive cruise control, apparently laser malfunction, will need to go in to sort out on Monday.

That would be a heart breaker. That is a solid quarter. Purely guessing but that leads me to believe that we are talking about a software update that will require a visit to the dealer rather than a series of OTA updates. I can imagine them wanting to limit service visits to one in that period of time and not want everybody having to visit twice.
