For those of you who used the MirrorTap to install your radar detectors...do you remember which color was positive and which color was negative? From reviewing other posts on other Audi vehicles, the negative was always brown, but the positive was either a yellow wire or a red wire with a blue trace on it. What is the positive colored wire for the E-tron? Also, has anyone been brave enough to try to mirror tap a dash cam and a radar detector? Is there enough room to insert the prongs? If so, is there a potential issue to "short" one of the devices if the prongs are in contact with each other? Could it also draw too much power and cause an issue? If this is an issue...I may have to decide which do I want to mirror tap and the figure out what to do to get power to the other device (thinking I will mirror tap the radar detector and do something different with the dash cam).

Has anyone had success with the use of a mirror tap to power their radar detector? I was able to find power but it wasn’t switched power. I didn’t spend much time one it and then it dawned on me that perhaps there was a delayed power switch. Before I take it apart again I was hoping someone had a successful installation and could share which wires they taped into.

I'm surprised those detectors are still a thing.....
I had one many years ago...a high end one at the time, although I've long ago forgotten what it was.
but it seemed to me that more often than not the police were positioned so that the detector did not much good....they knew how to beat them more or less....come over a crest of a hill for example and have the thing go off...way to late to do anything about it.... I'm sure the tech has gotten better since then...but on both sides of this game....

Valentine One has been a long time leader. They recently just release generation 2. Coupled with Waze, I'm faily confident when I drive so that I know when there's traffic radar/laser in the area and double speed and surroundings.

so if you're using the mirror tap for the r3, can you use another mirror tap for the dash cam? I have both that were wired to a fuse box in my previous car, but I'm trying to think of solutions for this car.

I just did it today for a friends E Tron. We connected the power to the red/black (power..may have been blue) and the brown (ground). It was the second set of cables, the lower ones. Only set with the black/red. We took an educated guess off of a Q7 thread with the cable colors. Took less than 15 minutes.
