Thats what we called them when I lived in Detroit
Although I never ate there. I always ended up at Lafayette Coney Island downtown when I went looking for cheap food that was bad for ya. Or any one of your other delectable Coney Island spots.

Coney's are good post-bar food, but nothing beats a greasy mini burger cooked w/ onions
The non-franchise places like Green's, Bray's or Telway are much better than White Castle, but when you're still loaded a sack of greasy burger from anywhere will do the trick.
Lafayette is a solid 2nd choice for me. I used to go on an anual pub crawl that had it's last stop there. A true Detroit landmark.

Never been to Alvins, but The Old Miami was an occasional hangout in college
The chapter of my fraternity at Wayne State has a house at Cass and Alexandrine. Great neighborhood! Nothing like walking out to your car and getting offered crack or a $5 BJ after a party.
