Default 5 cylinders..no waiting!

Who else agrees with me? The "real" audis had 5 cylinders & 20 valves? Not to say the new V6's or 4cyl are bad, but the 5's have a certain charm & sound & feel & reliability & etc.... that will be very hard to copy. Keep the old ones running!!!

Right on Dude. 5 was the magic compromise: more power than a 4 cyl and less fuel consumption than a I-6 or V6. Plus, it was just plain funky. I think the Germans have a word for it, farfunkenoutman.

Default Hold on a second...

I agree that the 5cyls are great (I'm on my third), but the UrQ had only 10 valves, and that car is the realest of the real Audis.

The UrQ may have had only 10 valves BUT the first Audi "S" car was the S1 Sport Quattro which, if you count, had 20 valves. So, as far as I figure, if its an "S" car, there are 4 valves per cylinder, at least 5 cyliners and turbocharging and intercooling, [ I don't classify the S6+ , with the normally aspirated V8 a real S-car (even if it does have 32 valves)]. The 1991 200 20V turbo quattro is an "S" car under the above definition and probably should have been labled as such (maybe the marketing boys were asleep in Ingolstadt). Probably a better "sleeper" than an actual 92-97 S-car since it looks more like the older 86-ish 10V turbo quattro sedan (which at 160-ish HP wasn't that fast by today's standards).

Just my opinion.
