96 C4 S6 driver's door cannot be opened from inside

Default 96 C4 S6 driver's door cannot be opened from inside
Brought my 1996 S6 to the dealer today, the driver's door mechanism is not working from inside. It works perfectly from outside though.

They figure it's the catch that needs replacement... in the neighborhood of $300 to replace.

Looking for a second opinion...has anyone had this kind of problem? A search did not find anything other than disconnected latch cables.

Default I've had this happen before...
But when I locked and unlocked the door it went away...

Default It most likely is a disconnected/snapped cable
STFA for door trim removal-there is a link to a good webpage, which has photos
