Default Anyone have experience with "Sport Edition" wheels from Tirerack? Also 235-55-17 should fit?

Someone local is selling a set of 17x7.5 ET35 Sport Edition wheels with 235-55-17 Michelin X-Ice winters. Any ideas if that size would cause any rubbing?

Default 235/55 seems absurdly tall, no? Almost sounds like an A8 size.

*note: "absurdly tall" replaced "wee bit tall" to make Dave F. happy.

"Wee"? How's 27.17 inch diameter versus 24.86 inches stock 225/50/16. Needs 40 or 35 series not 55

Default Is your over analysis of every word really necessary?

You know this forum would be a much more pleasant place if you didn't find fault in every little word choice someone uses. Use your superior intellect to correct serious technical errors that really affect the integrity of the forum. Lighten up and get a life, this is a forum, on the internet.

Default Honestly, in this case I think the problem is yours, not his. He was agreeing with you.

And making light of "wee".

Default Well "wee" on you.

Analyze that.

Choice of words needs to be precise in a fuzzy world. "Wee" can mean a lot of things but you meant "a smidge", "a tad", "a little bit", etc. when in fact it was 2.31 inches. Which is HUGE.

Sorry, it's not intellect. I'm an engineer and I can't let stuff like that slide.

Default Thanks but I was DISagreeing with him. He implied "a tad" bigger when it was MUCHO GRANDE bigger.

What he said was misleading because he hadn't done the math before he replied.

He can be as "wee"'d off as he wants with me. He was wrong.

I didn't need to be "right". I just wanted to prevent the original poster from buying tires that are too big, even for an A8.

Default 235/45-17 is the correct size. 235/55-17 will make your speedo read too slow

and may cause rubbing over bumps or tight turns.
