Champagne bubbles in the coolant overflow but not the head gasket?
I was under the hood today revving the motor, looking for a rattle when I noticed that revving the motor produced a cloud of champagne bubbles in the coolant overflow. The engine was quite warm after driving for 120 minutes.
Immediately I suspected a head gasket and nursed the car home. The highest the temp needle ever got was half way.
So to confirm my suspicions I ran the test described here (with the car cold this evening):
"the definitive head gasket test - air bubbles in the coolant. (Whilst engine is cool) - Remove small hose to coolant tank - add enough tube to immerse through coolant tank cap. Start the car. Air bubbles? Yes ? Head gasket / warped head.
No air bubbles? You have a leak. "
No bubbles at all. Its going to a shop for a HC in coolant test which im starting to think it may pass as well.
What the hell is going on here?
Thanks!

i had a saab once that only leaked HC's when warm
it had a micro crack in the head that no one could see w/out magnafluxing it.
wouldn't leak when cold but when it expanded from head it would leak. fun
not sure that helps anything...
