Did I sta-sta-sta-stutter?
Plugs = OK
Coils = ?
POS = ?
FPR = ?
So the deal is this: The car is having a hard starting problem. Sometimes takes 2+ seconds of cranking to get the car started. If you give the car throttle it'll start quicker and always on the first try. The second problem is when you get into boost (20+ psi) the car will stutter/flutter/hesitate. Idle is fine, lower boost levels are fine.
So here I am, prepping myself for a Friday full of coil and POS testing... I was thinking coils all the way right, but then there is this hard starting problem... so I was talking with another Audi guy from Lethbridge who said he had some problems with the FPR on his old Audi V8s causing the same sort of issue. This got me thinking... so now I'm looking for some further opinions before I start digging in. Any thoughts?

When you have a hard start have you ever pulled a plug and had a look?
If your FPR is sticking open you'll flood the engine... causing hard starts obviously. Maybe pull a plug and have a look after turning it over for a moment. If it is ~soaked in gas your FPR is likely sticking open. Now being soaked is relative..... if it looks like it was dipped in fuel, thats soaked. If it looks damp... thats proper. Maybe this isn't as helpfull as I had hoped. Do you smell fuel after turning the car over?
Try this. From a cold start try tapping your FPR a few times with a screwdriver handle. I had a stuck FPR and this would free up the diaphram so I could start. Give it a couple whacks then try to start. If that cures your probelm after a few tests then I would replace that little bugger. Should only be about $60.

I just wrote up the FPR hard start 2 weeks ago...
Remove the manifold pressure hose from the FPR - and see if you can suck fuel from it with your mi-t vac. Yes? A hole in the diaphram - and hard starting.
Is there black smoke & stink on starting? Same cause.
