Default DIY VAG-COM interface

It probably makes more sense to buy the whole kit from ross-tech, but if you like to tinker with electronics, then FYI Jeff Noxon's opendiag circuit works fine on the ur-S cars. I made a few modifications (added LEDs, changed connectors and form factor), but nothing vital.

I couldn't find a place to buy the 2X2 connectors for less than $40 or so, which just seemed like a ripoff, so I made some out of scrap sheet metal, a few bits of scrap plastic, hot glue, and solder, with a fair bit of dremeling involved. In retrospect it would be much easier to just hardwire in another connector (like an RJ-11 jack) instead.

Parts cost for the whole thing is probably less than ten bucks, but it's labor intensive.

Default eh. that's a bulky and expensive pair of connectors for only 4 wires

And I have other plans for that useless dent, which I'll elaborate sometime over the winter when I get it done.

I do think I'll probably add an RJ-11 jack somewhere in the cockpit though.
