Default Well, think of it this way...

...all organic compounds contain carbon, but not all carbon-containing compounds are organic.

Calcium carbonate (limestone), sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) both contain carbon. Neither is organic. Also carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide.

In general, organic molecules are compounds (made of more than one kind of atom) of covalently bonded carbon and hydrogen.

Graphite (what carbon fiber resembles most closely) is not considered organic, but inorganic - an allotrope of carbon. The other being diamond - the difference being in the crystalline structure.

The resin in which the carbon fiber trim is embedded is indeed organic - some sort of plastic. In fact, when it comes right down to it, the burl and elm trim are covered in a plastic as well. And the leather is dyed with some sort of flexible paint.

The differences may seem semantic, but to the chemist, they are significant. As a chemist, I'd like to think I know something about chemistry. But each day, I do learn something new. I learned today about graphite and diamond through Wikipedia - especially the formation of diamonds, and under what conditions. A very interesting read.
