Default Fun 10 Minute project

Well, looked like the PO might have spilled something under the little drink holder thingies so decided to replace this felt with new. I wanted to do the piece under the ash tray, but it appears that part is NLA. So, need to get some close match felt elsewhere and cut it down to size.

Anyways, remove the cup holder thingies.. they are only held on with velcro and cliped at the top... so pull from the bottom out and they will come right out. Then remove the felt underneath. You can just stab it with something to get leverage as you're going to replace it anyways.

See the back of mine... Yuk!

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6848.sized.jpg">

The new part will be too big because the S6 has the speaker for the cellular telephone there, so it will need to be cut down to size.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6846.sized.jpg">

Use the old one as a template to cut the new piece. Err just a smidge on the long side on the flat section.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6852.sized.jpg">

Here's what it should look like once you've cut it to size.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6857.sized.jpg">

Oh, this is what the back of those useless cup holder thingies looked like. You can see the velcro tabs that hold them in place. I'll eventually have these repainted when I have some other interior paintwork done.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6860.sized.jpg">

Silde the new piece in place. You'll have to work at it a bit to get the side "wings" of it shoved inbetween the speaker and the console piece, but it will eventually go in. Be patient.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6861.sized.jpg">

Get all the edges of that felt stuff under the console and then clean and re-install those cup holder thingies.

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/IMG_6863.sized.jpg">

Behold how great your felt looks!!!

On my previous ecru interiour S4, I had replaced these with black felt pieces and I also had the black floor mats... It really looked nice and didn't get dirty as well!

Actually, I have a picture of that as well... See below...

And...

<img src="http://www.s-cars.org/postnuke/modules/gallery/albums/danh/Picture_021.sized.jpg">

Man, I still miss that car. That car was the definition of a CLEAN S4!

Default They are actually pretty cheap.

But if you want one (black or ecru?), I can bring one out with me.

Shoot me an email so I have your address.

Default I wonder if the S6 felt would fit with the cell speaker removed, and if you could fab up s/thing...

...to tidy that back end up. I always remove the cell phone and speaker so I can use the center arm rest for storage.

Default Part numbers inside

4A0 863 301 C Lining, tray, centre console, rear

Colors:
P36 Ecru
3VJ Anthracite
3WZ Platinum

World Impex lists them for a bit under $11.

Great find Dan- I was planning to pull the speaker and wasn't sure how I was going to fill in the rest of the console, so this is perfect!

Default Per ETKA, the part number above is for the console without the speaker...

and Dan's writeup and pics show that it would have filled the opening if he hadn't cut it down to accommodate the speaker.

Default Would it be worthwile to leave one side of the cupholder out?

I am thinking that maybe it would let you fit a 20oz bottle.

Default You have to have both out to fit a 20oz AFAIK. If you got new felt and took the speaker out...

you should be able to reinstall the the 2-position holder towards the back and fit a 20oz in the front.
