H&R spring question, sport vs. race, etc..
I'm about to bite the bullet and order some Bilstein sports and H&R sport springs from Tirerack and I have a few questions:
1) Is this currently the best setup for all-around driving (some spirited, mostly commuting, no track)? I probably would have gone with Eibachs if they were still available as I have them on my C6.
2) Will I need to get any extra parts so that my tech will have everything he needs for the install (strut mounts or anything)?
3) I assume the race springs are too stiff for non hardcore/track use, correct?
Although I am a huge Audi enthusiast (own Audis #9 and 10 now), I am new to the game of UrS tuning/maintenance. TIA!

I have bilstein 29826 audi 100 sport springs, and wish they were a bit stiffer
but IIRC the S4/6 springs are a touch stiffer so I'd assume they are perfect. mine are great for all around driving but they're a little soft for highly agressive street work. the bilstein sports could use a little more compression/rebound dampening, but they're still very good right out of the box.
you should also buy front strut bearings, front upper strut mounts, probably new strut boots all around, probably new bumpstops all around, and new single-use nylock nuts for the upper & lower attachment points out back.
do your tech a favor and hit all the bolts (esp in the rear) with PB Blaster a few times before you bring it to the shop. ask chefbob/cialowicz how much fun it is to replace a sheared upper rear strut mount bolt....

dealer for bumpstops, they have the nuts too but you can prob get those from a supply house
i have no idea on the sizes though. you probably should replace them, they're really not supposed to be used more than once...but I doubt that most people do, and I doubt the suspension will fall apart.
I replaced mine once since the originals had 165k on them, but have had the suspension apart twice since they and haven't replaced them again.

Germanautoparts.com has the bumpstops listed
I have the stock camber plates FS if you want to Igor mod them to minimize downtime. Just had Eibachs installed and will post in a separate thread as soon as I take "after" pics.
