Had a run in with a friends chipped B5 Passat
he just bought a APR chipped ECU for his 1.8T Passat this week. I haven't driven it yet, but the thing seems to move well. The APR set up with the 93 program puts out 206hp and 247Ft/lbs. That's up 56hp and almost 100 ft/lbs of torque!! The car is stock enginewise except for a Forge BPV.
Now to the fun part. We were on the highway and made a few runs from ~80-~140 (i hit 140, he hit 135). The Audi was in the lead the whole time, and really struted it's stuff on the highway. I was VERY impressed.
As we were on the way to my house, we were able to line up at a stop light, with a nice ~1/4 miles straight ahead. This was closer. I wouldn't say i left him, as the fartest back he was was my back bumper, but he wasn't gaining. We did a nice 0-80mph. He did have traction problems in first gear.
Seeing as i'm still essentially stock power wise, i am impressed with the results. Even though i never left him at any time, he was in no position to ever pass me. Just thought i'd share. Makes me want to finally chip my car...
BTW, my fiance was attempting to keep up in her MkIII Jetta VR6 (auto), but didn't stand much of a chance...

Is that Passat a Tip?
If so, just barely beating him kinda sucks. That's a heavy car and the Tip makes it sluggish as all hell. I got passed by old ladys in walkers in my 99 I had.
