I'd say that a 200k mi+ car would be hard pressed to fetch $5-8k just for the fact that most folks won't shell out that kinda cash for that kinda mileage.

I picked up my early S6 the first of the year for $3700 with 172K on the clock. (I have one with the 4 spoke steering wheel) Is it perfect? No. I do have a few issues that need to be addressed such as the front end from rock chips and the lower bumper damaged from curbs, snow, whatever. There is another S6 local to me that is being sold for $2700 with similar mileage as yours. http://reno.craigslist.org/cto/1102251192.html

Avus wheels had to have been later than 60xxx chassis number for '95. Mine was built in December of '95 and still had the Fuchs from new. Options tag confirms it. I know the gauge rings, chrome button on the e-brake button and extra speakers in the rear doors were phased in later in '95 (after mine) but weren't a '95.5 "update" either.

EDL and the wide radio are 95.5. Manual diff lock button is a 95. The three spoke sport steering wheel was phased in early in 95 as part of the change over froom S4 to S6 from 94 to 95. Only a few 95 S6s have the 4 spoke wheel.
The problem with most lists of the differences between 95 and 95.5 is that they don't take into account that Audi did not make all the changes at once. They made running changes one at a time. As they ran out of stock of the old parts the new parts were introduced.
Manual diff lock (95) vs. EDL (95.5) is the only sure fire way to identify if a car is a 95.5 or not. Any car that has EDL will also have the wide radio and the cig lighter in the center console rather than next to the radio.

Solid headrests were part of the change from S4 to S6 not 95 to 95.5 like the 3-spoke steering wheel and Avus wheels. The exception is the S6 Avants. They retained the open headrests like the S4.

All the 1995.5 urS6 Avants I've seen(online & ads)have had solid headrests.
