Default Answer already posted below- just drill holes in pistons to let oil drain into crankcase.

Default Almost true . . .

First step is remove bumper, then drop sub-frame, ... and then ... drop engine.

Default Don't laugh I have to do this job on my A6 next weekend

Keeping in mind I replaced entire head without dropping anything on the UrS4, it's just painful to think of 4hr job to do the valve gaskets on just one side of a V6

But in reality the guy is wondering if he should do other work while doing the gaskets
