OT: does anyone have a small, old laptop they can sell me or know where to get one?
I want a laptop to keep in the car for my new VEMS controller. The smaller the better. It needs to have a CD drive and serial or USB port. $100 or less.

I sold my 1999 vintage IBM Thinkpad 600x on Craigslist late last summer (2007) for $150
To my suprise, I got asking price for it and it sold the same day I listed it.
It had parallel, 9 pin serial, and a USB port. Woulda made a good VAG-COM laptop because of that. I had it running Windows XP and the performance was acceptable.
Solidly constructed.
I'd look for one of those...

I have a IBM T21 and a Dell D600, click for specs.
IBM T21 - Type 2647-M5U
Windows XP Pro SP2
Office 2003 Pro
Symantec AV Corp 10 (the kind you dont have to renew)
KATE 7 =)
Pentium III 700
256mb Ram
100Gb hard drive
DVD-Rom/CDRW combo
everything built in except for 3Com wireless PCMCIA card.
let me see if i have some spare memory laying around i think i can get it up to 512mb.
I also have a Dell D600:
Windows XP Pro SP2
Office 2003 Pro
Symantec AV Corp 10 (the kind you dont have to renew)
KATE 7 =)
Penitum Mobile 1.6Ghz CPU, 1Gb Ram
but only 40Gb hard drive.
Everything built in.
If you want i can swap the hard drives and do a clean install.
PM me privately for the prices.

I have two Dell Inspiron 7500s
both with docking stations. neither is particularly small or light but I'd be happy to sell you one for $100. both are 700mhz win98, both have CD/DVD drives and floppy drives, batteries are OK on both, one is all standard the other has 712mb ram. located in providence RI.
