Default Rear brake helpppppppppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Today when I got home I noticed a grinding sound coming from my passenger rear wheel. Well tonight I take off the wheel thinking it is the brakes and the outside pad looks good but the inside pad is almost gone. As I start taking it apart I find that the bottom guide pin that the caliper bolts to is ceased up. Well while trying to remove it, it breaks off.

Does anyone have the rear caliper mounts that they don't need, like someone who has upgraded to the big reds maybe? If not do you think I can heat it with a torch and get it out with out messing up the bracket?

I am really starting to hate this car. I know where to get the pads and I am going to get the rotors turned but the bracket, well I do not want to go to the stealership if I have to. I know this could happen to any car and my wifes old T-Bird did this as well, I guess the person who last touched the rear brakes forgot to lubricate these parts. Anyways, any advice or help I would really appreciate it.

Also, where could I find the guide pins at?

Nate

Default Replace the rotors; don't turn them.

Don't be hating on the S car. This is hardly a major catastrophy.

Why buy new ones? Is there a reason to not turn them?

Default If the pins are stuck...

and you cannot get them out like I couldn't, you can get rear caliper carriers (comes with pins) for about $ 70/side from ECS.

Just noticed that they now have the Carrier bolts available separately.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com/stage/edpd/pagebuild_v2.cgi?make=Audi&amp;engine=20v%20T&amp; model=C4%20S6&amp;submodel=Quattro&amp;category=Br aking">ECS brake page</a></li></ul>

Thanks for the link, It looks like I will spend about $200 to get both carrier brackets to be safe, harware and pads. $100 for the rotors. So $300 total to do rear brakes, ouch! Oh well, at least I know it will be done right and won't need to be done for a while.

Default Well, it depends...

If your machine shop is great, and they do very good work, I'd have them turned.

If you're not absolutely sure, replace them. Rotors are pretty cheap.

And yes, just about everyone who's owned an UrS has done the rear caliper cha-cha.

Default Here's why you should replace the rotors...

The prices are probably cheaper than having them turned, especially on the rears and rotors get so corroded over time, anyway; good idea to replace. You're driving an Audi, not a Hyundai; treat it well.<ul><li><a href="http://www.autohausaz.com/search/productx.aspx?sid=stefs0553n1nyxuvt15ykans&amp;mak eid=800002@Audi&amp;modelid=1009370@S6%20TURBO&amp ;year=1995&amp;cid=14@Brake%20%26%20Wheel%20Hub&am p;gid=1896@Brake%20Disc/Brake%20Rotor">Front and R
