Default solved leaking x plug seal with slick 50 powersteering additive

just serviced my S and noticed when removing the undertray copious amounts of powersteering fluid that had leaked from the x plug all the way down, cleaned it all up and saw a bottle of slick 50 powersteering additive id had for a while, and thought what the hell and filled the powersteering reservoir up to max, well just driven 400miles and it seems to have stopped the leak ,until i get hold of a new plug and seal.Seems the seals last approx 4 years before they start to leak, well thats in the british climate anyhow!!do you recon there are any downsides to putting the additive in my S6?its supposed to lube the pump aswell as stopping leaks, just never been a fan of additives in my car?
Damien.

seals and orings, they're supposed to have mineral oil,I don't know what effect it will have but time will tell.

Default Then there's the fine print... [edit]

...on the bottle absolving them of the $3k responsibility when your pump, rack, ABS controller, bomb and hoses implode.

Maybe I'm totally crazy, but here's my advice:

1.) Get some Pentosin 11S (green can) immediately. Get 4 liters.

2.) Drain ALL the hydraulic fluid in the system, now. Fill with fresh Pentosin. Run it for a day.

3.) Drain and fill again with fresh Pentosin.

4.) Pray to Dog you didn't make your hydraulic system borken.

[edit]

5.) And fix the original problem - the leaking x-plug. If you search, you'll get a part number, picture, and a method of replacing.

Default Sludge 50? Let us know how it holds up over the next year...

I'm not against seeing if a snake oil works, as long as I'm not the one beta testing it. ;^)
