Default Stereo turns on but no sound or noise through any speakers?

Anybody have a clue what the issue may be?

Thanks.

You need to give us a few hints, like the year of your UrS. Gamma or Delta Bose? Did you *happen* to disconnect/replace the car battery recently?

Default Radio

Pull the fuse off wait 30 seconds and reinstall
you may need the radio code after this.

Does the display light up? If it displays safe, you will need to use the code to activate. If you are lucky it will be in the owners manual folder or written next to the battery.

The car is a '97, radio is delta. The speakers gave out while I was driving the car. I believe I could smell tiny bit of smoke when it happened, but I'm not 100%.
When the stereo is turned on it doesn't display 'safe'. Everything functions normal except for sound. I can change fm channels, fiddle with buttons, etc.

Update: I just tried pulling the fuse, but it didn't help. It prompted me for the safe code. I threw it in and I still have the same issue.

You are going to need to remove the radio and look for burnt wires (or smell the unit for residual smoke). It is likely dead.

Some info about the Delta CC Bose here:

Audi had a clearance sale on these last year for $25. There *might* be a few still in the system.

This may be the cheapest solution:

That's great!
I'm surprised the radio is only $25 considering how expensive other much simpler parts can be. I think it's worth getting the new radio even if the problem isn't within the deck itself since the display on my deck has a few scrambled parts.

Thanks guys!

How does one pull out the stock radio?
I've tried fiddling with it but no luck, I'd hate to brake something.

Thanks

I have a different radio on my '95, but usually there is either 4 little holes in the corners for like a coat-hanger or there is a slit on each side that a little metal thing slides in...saw a kit on eBay once
