Doesn't look like the weld failed. Parent material right next to the weld split
Exactly what you would expect since that material has been weakened by the heat of welding and would be weaker than the weld itself and the rest of the parent material.

I only made the comment becuase if you look at picture 1 and 3, there is clearly weld on both sides
of the crack along that seam. So in fact, the weld did fail. And more than likely it failed first and then caused the cast aluminum to crack. Not the other way around. Things break at the weakest point first.
Now under the circumstances that were later given, that would be expected I guess. So the welder may not have been at fault. But IMO it looks like a fairly narrow bead for such a long seam. But who knows. They are just pictures.
