Are there any easy ways to clean rims? Any tools or products I could try?

Default Are there any easy ways to clean rims? Any tools or products I could try?

I try to keep my car clean, but the rims are a lot of work to wash. The brake dust doesn't come off with a sprayer alone, I need to get down and rub every inch of the rim with a microfiber cloth to remove the dust. It comes clean, but it's a lot of work to do again and again.

Any tips or tools that might make this job easier? With the new big blacks my rims are dusting faster than before, so I need to clean them even more now.

Thanks.

Default I use 3M Tire and Wheel cleaner spray and a $5 wheel brush.

The 3M cleaner is a bit more expensive than most ($10 a bottle) but I have been using it for years and has worked well.

To reduce brake dust all together, ceramic brake pads are the way to go. But I think they lack a but in stopping ability. That's just my opinion though.

Wax your rims. Dust'll wash off easier.

Default Ceramic doesn't reduce the dust any more than other "low dust" pads

But the dust is close to the color of the wheels so it's much less noticeable.

Well like I said, it's just my opinion.

I use my sheepskin wash mitt that I wash the car with.

I wash the wheels last.

I use Meguiar's gold class soap mixed with a bucket of water.

Brake dust from my Hawk HPS comes off easily enough.
