Default Thinking of switching to the 034 High Output coils......

I currently have the 1.8T coils, but I don't think that they can keep up with my turbo setup. I'm still getting some missing under high boost.

Should I throw down the $700 for the high output coils????? $700 is a lot of money

Default No. For that money, go OEM.

Proven solution, can do high-HP for a long time.

Default Here is the only reason why I don't like the OEM

They take semi senative electrical equipement and put it on a hot motor incased in a cover to let it roast..

Copper has a relativly high termal conductivity and a fair amount of thermal growth due to change in temp. I know when we run our high speed motors the hardest part is thermal management is more power means more heat, if the heat builds the resistance in the stator gets higher which means more power is needed and so the cycle continues till we run out of power or burn up.. Just my 2cents. that's all.. Oh and the price aint cheap either!

Default Audi seemed to make them last...

...and a lot better than their later coil-on-plug implementation, too. The 034 solution is not time-tested, and we have no idea how long their stuff will last. We do know, however, that cars with the OEM stuff are still wearing some of those parts from the factory. That is durability that's really hard to beat.

I think it would be great if the coil cover were thermally isolated from the rest of the cam cover - that would help with the heat build up.

Problem is, to get a sure-fire solid OEM system you gotta replace everything, and spend double.

Default Do yourself a favor, just buy the 034 HO coils

I have fussed with a number of the popular solutions and as far as I'm concerned this problem has been solved. I put mine on a year ago and I don't even think about it anymore, it just runs like a train.
I do hope 034 has figured out the bracket for the coils however - they did promise me a corrected one but it never came.

Default And I'll 3rd that

As 4 of the 5 on mine are original with 205K miles..

I'd be fine with them resting on top, it's the pretty cover that kills me.
