I seriously doubt that you blew your tranny because it was too hot. More like...
hard launching is my guess. A tranny cooler does not protect against mechanical abuse instigated by the driver. Even S-car guys who are serious "trackers" don't worry about tranny coolers.

I know tranny coolers do not prevent mech. failures they do however keep the viscosity of the oil ..
constant. The sad thing about my tranny is i can say and or swear to you i NEVER launched the car out of advice from the previous owner. One day it started clicking in first gear and progressively got worse over time. I checked and changed the fluid (audi fluids) still no help then one day coming back from work was coming off a stop light shifted from first to second got to about half boost 13lbs and CLACK CLACK CLACK sounded like i was shooting at people with an automatic. Went to nuetral coasted into a parking lot. Realized i had 1st and 5th gear only. Called my buddy put it on the flatbed when i rolled it off i had all the gears back??? Still sounds like the end of the ****en world when you drive it though so its been sitting in my garage since.
