turbo questions...
so i have searched and searched and searched, i am thinking of upgrading to a bigger turbo. i personally would love rs2. but it seems soooo pricey (i am aware that these are expensive cars to mod)i am also not looking to get an insane amount of hp either. im looking at around 350-ish area for now, any suggestions? if i do this i will have pastore's rs2 software. but what turbo? i just cannot make up my mind. oh, and this is my daily driver... let me know what you pros think!

Except the $300 oil/water line kit, right?
Now we're at $1150, and it's not nearly so cheap. I think Force5 was selling new RS2 turbos for $1350 3-4 months ago.
For 350HP, RS2 is really the way to go. A GT2871 with the boost backed off some could be tuned down to 350, but that set-up is more expensive than RS2.
RS2 EM, turbo and injectors, plus appropriate software, is about as cheap as it's gonna get.

I agree that RS2-level is teh best, but the RS2 turbo spools too late for my taste
If I ever upgrade, it'll be to either GT2871 or 3071. I drove nick's wagon in both RS2 and 3071 forms, and it's a night and day difference in spool time.

See? That's why this forum is great.
I love the late spool of the journal-bearing turbos. I can drive around town all day without the boost gauge reading over zero. And still have enough "go" to not get passed by Geo Metros.
Then, when I want serious action, I can select the proper gear and get it.
The dual character of the set-up is one of the attractions for me.
It'd be way boring if we all had the same opinions, wouldn't it?
