Wondering about wrapping the turbo and downpipe with that heat tape stuff, or whatever it's called
Ok, so I don't know the official terms. Basically, it's some kinda of wrapping you put on the hot parts to help keep the heat in the pipe and away from the rest of the engine. I've seen it before in pictures on the forum.
This could improve performance by keeping intake air cool, right? It would also keep my new coils cooler (yes, they're mounted on the turbo side).

Big 2nd. One of my S-cars had half the downpipe wrapped for no readily apparent reason...
guess which half rotted and which was fine?

The benefit of running wrap, it keeps underhood temps lower.
and it keeps the heat in the exhaust manifold longer which prevents cracking. The reason why iron/metal cracks is because of too much of a temperature difference. My plan is to get the manifold, turbo housing, wastegate and the downpipe wrapped.
