Unless you have gobs of money and/or lots of free time ...
B5 is VERY hard to work on. Changing the Turbo requires :
a) [8+hrs] dropping the sub-frame and doing ugly contortions with the tranny so that you can do surgery through the wheel well (!)
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/58573/img_2679a.jpg">
b) [14+hrs] taking out the entire engine
<img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/58573/img_0913.jpg">
Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't be doing this if I didn't love the B5 - it's a magical, addictive car. But someone wise once said "The ideal Project Car should be one that you can hate". And the B5 really makes you suffer for the moments of sheer enjoyment.
My Quote : "Working on the B5 S4 is like DIY surgery on an expensive Swiss watch. One sneeze and you can easily blow away $5K"
