Default Electrical issues

Hi All,
I’m having a lot of issues with my Audi Q8 Vorsprung. The number of warnings that flash up is alarming.

1. left and right main beam malfunction
2. parking brake fault - disabling cruise control
3. Rear door electric close not working

these are the ones I remember. I have taken it to Audi who kept it for a day and said they couldn’t find anything wrong.

anyone had similar experiences?

thanks,

Jonathan

And then some... Very troubling, and not happy

I have not had any issues with my Q8. Having owned previous Audis, C5/6/7 A-6's, I did have electrical issues with the C6 in the first year of ownership. Like you, I took it to the dealer only to have them not find anything wrong. Since the problems were intermittent and the OBD did not record any faults, I resolved to take the car immediately to the dealer when one of the faults occurred. When a fault would happen, I kept the car running and drove directly to the dealer (when they were open). Though it took a few trips, I was able to show the service writer and mechanics exactly what was occurring and they were able to write a repair order for my car and get the required fix completed. Not an elegant fix, but may be the only way to get something accomplished in a timely fashion.

You can also take pictures and cellphone videos of problems as they occur. This can sometimes help the service writer get a better idea of what you are experiencing.

I have resorted to driving around with cell phone ready. A bunch of short films on my phone.

Same experience! if you have a sporadic problem that doesn't show up in the shop and there are no recorded faults Audi America may not authorize troubleshooting. Of course, intermittent problems happen and not all faults are recorded since no complex diagnostic system IDs 100% of faults. I have had a number different faults of that type with my Q8 and even with a video of the problem I can't get further help. I finally gave up.

Very good idea to take pictures and videos of what is occurring. It helps the dealer. I’ve done it in the past when my navigation head unit went bad and it helped them to get it fixed. Otherwise it would have been hard to proof/describe what was going on with no faults recorded.

That doesn't necessarily work due to manufacturer policies. No troubleshooting or repair on the keyless entry problem depicted below:
