Harsh Downshifts
Seriously, what is wrong with this transmission? Aside from the well published throttle delay issues etc, the downshifts simply SUCK, especially 4-3, and then it lags going down to 1. It jerks so abruptly sometimes that I move forward in the seat. I just cannot figure out what Audi has done with this! My 2014 A7 never had these issues. My 2018 SQ5 exhibited some of it, but my 2019 Q8 just boggles the mind.

I experience the rough downshift and agree this is annoying. I am testing if sport mode can lessen the downshift jerk but I don't always want to drive around in sport mode. Any way to fix this?

Just took delivery of a 2019 Prestige Q8 with 9,300 miles. This is one of my only complaints. I have been driving with Auto S/S off, comfort mode, and normal Drive mode (not sport). The downshift from 2 to 1 is harsh. Seems to be especially when you have any brake applied. If you are just coasting, it seems smoother, but that is not usual driving.
I read that the throttle lag issues were solved with firmware updates, and I have not experienced that (although I never leave the Auto S/S on). Is there any way to see what firmware updates are in the ECM?
Thanks in advance, I hope to be a regular contributor/reader.

After a year with our 2019 Q8, my sense is that when braking as the car nears the stopping point, the regenerative braking system causes the car to feel like it's downshifting. You feel it in the brake pedal. Just a thought; it may well be a simple downshift, but either way I find that it is very hard to modulate the brakes evenly at low speeds compared with my BMW. I feel like I'm not maintaining even brake pedal pressure. FWIW.

I have a hard time coming to a comfortable stop - bugs me with passengers in the car. I didn't realize this car had regenerative braking. Very hard to modulate when you never know when that is going to kick in. Can't always coast to a stop.
So, can you jump-start a 12V car? Is that even possible with this 48V system?
Also, do you know how to know what firmware modifications have been done for the ECM and Transmission? I know there was an update for the throttle lag issue. wondering if it helps with this downshifting issue?
thanks,
