No, that's not right. I don't have any lag whatsoever in sport transmission mode or with the s/s function turned off.

This is a MHEV. While I wish it were as simple as hitting the accelerator and brake, the reality is that you will need to learn how to coast to recharge the battery. You will also need to learn how to brake gently and accelerate gently when the transmission is operating in standard drive mode. You need to adjust your driving technique.

Reminder that turbos need to spool up to produce power.

Nice video. But that's for a 48 volt HYBRID vehicle. Our Audis just have the 48 volt battery to restart the car from a stop.
Totally different driving scenario

That said, I agree completely that my A7 in sport mode has no lag whatsoever - except for some annoying turbo lag which is endemic to turbos and has nothing to do with the lag experienced with the stop/start system (which my sport mode shuts off automatically)

I miss my supercharged V6 on my 2014 A6. The best engine I've ever driven

I believe the Q8 is considered a “mild hybrid” as a result of the 48 volt electrical system which operates not only the s/s system but the starter, alternator and has no drive belts. It also regenerates for braking assist.

My Q8 didn't lag for a few months, when the Stop/Start was off. Then it began and has increased. It does it in Dynamic or Comfort Mode. I have 11,000 miles on the Q8. It occurs when I brake to slow and then hit the gas to accelerate.

Several have noted that the lag problem has become worse. Not sure where those posters are located, but wondering if this is a side effect of very hot weather that many of us in the US are experiencing now. I know that in the past, the effect of high temperature increasing turbo lag was well-documented, but I don't know if high ambient temps have as much of an effect on modern turbos. Thoughts?

I'm in Palm Springs area and wondered if hot weather aggravated the Q8 Lag problem since it's doing it all the time lately. I went to the coast, 70 degrees, happened virtually every time I braked to slow and then accelerated. Doesn't do it if you ease into the throttle, but catches me off guard just at the wrong time sometimes. Demonstrated to dealer and finally acknowledged it's happening. Back to Audicustomerexperience. They have been communicating, but don't seem to have any answer; been talking with them for 4 months.Service writer at the coast says it happens with his own car. The fact that the lag has gotten significantly worse, in that it happens all the time and in all modes, makes me think it's not all in the programming.

I’ve had 1/2 dozen turbo cars and this is NOT turbo lag at all. It is throttle lag or delayed acceleration response.
