Default Clutches on the Tiptonic?

I remember that there was a lot of speculation about how long the clutch would last for the tiptonic transmission. I have a manual R8, but someone asked me if the tiptonic would work well on the track. The clutch issue was my only concern. Anyone with some good feedback on the clutch longevity in the tiptonic equipped R8?

Default There is no tiptronic on the R8...

Only R-Tronic. With the programming on the Gallardo, lifespan on the clutch was anywhere from 5k to as high as 30k miles. It all depended on how muh stop and go traffic the car saw. With the R-Tronic R8's I've driven, the computer rides the clutch even longer in an effort to smooth out the shifts. Techs have been informed that 5k - 10k miles would be normal for the R8 R-Tronic.

Yes,.. Thnx Der Kimbo, I do mean R-tronic. Has anyone needed a new clutch yet?
To people with the R8 R-Tronic, is the more limited clutch life a consideration to your using your R8 on the track?

Surely we have people with well beyond 10k on rtronics by now so hopefully we can hear from them.

Default Track use would not cause a short life span...

It's consistent stop and go city driving that will cause the most wear. As I said in my earlier reply, compared to the Lamborghini programming, the R8 "rides the clutch" for a longer period of time when starting off from a start and during low and slow shifts.

Actually I'm trying to find credible info and feedback from real owners of the R8 with the R-Tronic, who also track their cars kinda regularly. I would prefer to pass on the side-line, 2nd hand, 'expert's' perspective. Thnx anyway.

Default It's city driving that kills the clutch, not track use.

Stop and go driving will burn clutch much faster than track use.
