I plan to add a separate amp/sub to replace the factory sub which delivers zero bass. Since I am new to this, any advice would be welcomed.

Anyone done this cost effectively?

I heard a VAGCOM test to remove Bose filters to the sub may improve things, but my Audi deal new nothing about this.

Changing the coding on the radio does alter the EQ. I'm not as familiar with the Symphony II's, but in the Symphony I's if you code it without BOSE most people say it has too much bass???

I'm, surprised your Audi dealer didn't know about this? All you have to adjust is the "software coding" using a VAG tool.
This is a 5 digit number. On the Symphony I, bit 2 (4 from the left) turns on and off BOSE. As well, bit 3 sets up how the speakers work. A normal BOSE system is set to 0, no passive speakers, a normal non-Bose would probably be 2 (2 passive front, 2 active rear.)

Again this is for the Symphony I. You might want to post this in the 2002 A4 forum and ask if someone with a Bentley manual can look up the codes for you. Or, your Audi dealer should really have this.
