6 x 9's?
Hi,
I have a set of components up front in my Audi a3 and a sub in the boot. I have 2 amps to run this and it sounds good. However i would like some treble comming from the back of the car too. I know it would make much difference for me sitting in the front, however it will still make it sound fuller and people sitting in the back can hear more treble rather than just bass.
I have a good set of 6 x 9's and am thinking about buying a stealth shelf and putting them in. There are mixed views on this. But my amp will be set to high pass so that little bass and more treble goes though to the 6 x 9's. What do you guys think about this?

I can't see why you would need rear speakers in such a small car.
It's true that people sitting in the back will be better served but how many times do you have people in the back of your A3. It will not make the sound fuller as you described. The only thing it will end up doing is pulling your soundstage back towars the rear seats. If they are not going to be on dedicated amp channels, the only way to make it decent is to wire an attenuator in line with the rear speakers so you can turn them down to the point where you can't even hear them in the front.

I understand what you mean, however i have the set of 6 x 9's sitting at home and they are very good quality so would it not just be a waste to leave them sitting there when they could be put to use?
The main thing i am asking is if it effects the bass comming from the subwoofer? Even though it is set to high pass some bass mass still creep through however i doubt it will make much of an effect to the bass. A lot of people say to keep the bass of the 6 x 9's off as it fights the sub for air in the boot. Not sure if this is a myth.

Cross them over. You don't want those trying to play low bass.
You might get cancellation issues or the air movement from the sub could actually force the cone of the 6x9 to move further that it's suspension was designed for.
