Default Alpine Screen AudiA4

I recently installed a alpine cva 1006 head unit with a hideaway brain in a 99 audi a4. I was wondering if anyone had any luck with aftermarket decks working with the key off. I wired the plug the way it said to but when I tun the car off the radio shuts off. Then when I try to power it up with the key off it wont but the factory radio did? I`m thinking their is a ACC hookup under the fuse panel so I can get power when my key is in the ignition? Anyone post a reply that had this issue. Also had 5% tint work done on the windows and in the back where they put the little black dots around the window the tint dont stick? I was thinking of scraping this off but was wondering if its the antena or what. Thanks in advance guys.

What enables the radio to turn on and off with the key and then turn back on once the key is removed is the CanBus system. The Alpine unit does not connect into the CanBus system in the car. I was working on a solution, but aftermarket headunits do not have the technology to perform the same as stock. Without having the key in the ignition, there is no way to have the radio on unless you wire the red acc lead of the radio to constant power.

Default The Stock Radio has a timer circuit built-in

when you power cycle the factory head unit a timer starts and will power the head unit off in one hour to conserve power. I'm working on a timer circuit for my C5 this weekend I'll post a parts list on Sunday with a diagram.

I was reading in the forum somewhere that there is a wire that has power when the key is in the ignition soon as you take the key out it shuts off this is the wire i want but not sure if its the same as the audi TT. It says audi TT on the factory radio on the top so it might just be their?

I think the wire they where refering to is on one of the unused harnesses behind the radio. For some reson the makers of the aftermarket harness dont relise this problem yet because their is no plug in for it. The wire im looking for after looking at the factory radio pinout is yellow with a redstripe. The wire on the aftermarket harness hooks it to the red wire doh. I turn the radio off by hand for now. I`m working on a mobile computer in this car right now I will post pics later.

Default Right. Downside to connecting to constant power is battery drain.

If you let the car sit a few days, you might runt he battery down. I had my Alpine like that a couple weeks to see what effects it would have.
