Audi Symphony Stereo with iPod Dock?

Audi Symphony Stereo with iPod Dock?
Hi all.
I have a 2005 A3 with Symphony Stereo and Bose.
I also have a slot in my glove compartment for an iPod....
After being told at my local Audi garage my iPod was "too new" I have borrowed an iPod Video. (The 30GB Classic, the first series to support video playback)
When I push the iPod into the slot, it lights up, and appears to be taking a charge.
How do I access this from the Symphony system?
- There isn't an auxiliary selection?
- Do I have tune radio to a preset frequency?

I recently purchased an S4 which has an Ipod cable connected to the Symphony head unit. I plug my Ipod in (120GB "Classic"), it lights up, but I don't know how to get it to play through my stereo.
