C5 A6 HeadUnit replacement
I have a 2000 A6 2.7T and I am currently investigating a problem I heard from Circuit City and my local Dealer that replacing the Head Unit causes issues with the transmission. However, it is obvious that replacing this unit is possible since I have seen pictures of completed projects before. I was wondering who here has had experience integrating a nav system into a 2000 A6 (or with similar audio system). I was also wondering, if it is possible (as i speculate it is), if the setup I am planning sounds decent to everyone:
Eclipse Nav AVN-5495
MB Quart components all around
Eclipse amplifier for speakers
2- 12" Alpine Type X
HiFonics amp for subwoofers

What are you doing talking to Circuit City? Doesn't that cause your brain to shrink?
It sounds like mid-fi to me, honestly.
I'd suggest the following:
RNS-E OEM nav (savings)
Harness from TeddyBGame with RCA outputs
Zapco Reference 360 and 500 amps under rear deck.
DLS UP6 in front
Morel Pulse 6 in the back doors (don't use a seperate tweeter in the back door - it ruins your front seat image, save the money and spend it on good fronts)
A DLS Iridium 10" or an Image Dynamics IDQ10 fiberglassed into the R side panel of the trunk.
Stealth system, sounds better, retains trunk.

I think talking to them may be the source of my confusion.
Yet, the dealer said the same thing. I am trying to get a further explanation from them on why they say this.
As for system setup, how much would all that run for?

Rough estimates
I think A6 RNS-Es are going for about $1400, but I'd research it on navplus.com and the telematics forum here.
MSRP on UP6s is like $445 and you can get them for like $335.
MSRP on the Zapcos is $950 but they will run you about $750 maybe.
The Morels are like $200 list.
The sub is $400.
Install varies.
