<center><img src="http://pictureposter.audiworld.com/105143/dsc01992.jpg"></center><p>If you're like me, you've done a lot of searching to see what speaker size the door panels will fit. You'll see anything from 5.25s all the way around to 5.25s up front and 6.5s in the rear to 6.5s all the way around. Well I'm saying that pretty much 6.5s all the way around should fit pretty much no problem. You just have to be careful of mounting depth and not to get too far over 2.5". Due to my lack of ability to post multiple pics per thread, this is the first of 3 posts that will show me mounting a 6.5" MB Quart speaker in one of my rear door panels on my '01 A6 2.8 non-bose. You can see in this one that there are 3 hole locations for screws for the factory speakers.

They are right inside the 3 screw holes for the facotry speaker mounting locations. The MB Quarts I bouth pretty much slipped right in.

This is a great post for all the non-bose people out there. I'm included in that category.

When I first took off the door panel I was very discoraged by the weird 3 hole mounting system for the speakers. Luckily I was feeling a little ambitious and I took off the speaker to reveal the "hidden" aftermarket speaker holes.

Found out later that these are the mounting holes for the bose speakers. I wish we could have just been told....they are the same door panels.

At least you have the luxury of getting 6.5" drivers up front, we're limited to a 5.25".

You should get a little more/better mid-bass than most of us B5 owners. To improve it further, don't forget to Dynamat Xtreme your door panel and the door interior to improve speaker/sound performance.
