CD Changer for 98 Audi A4?
Hi Guys I have an 98 Audi A4 and I like to add a changer and not replace the entire head unit and everything else. Where can I get one cheap and will the panasonic 8 disk work with adapter as the 6 disk supposely does? Also where is the connection plug for the Changer? I believe I have the Gala system it does accept a CD Changer Correct?
One more thing I have a small MTX 10" Sub and JBL GTQ100 and I like to tape the rears for sound but was wondering if anyone knew of a better way to get audio for the sub itself?

Re: CD changer and free shipping from this place
I was just going to post this info for those interested. I'm not sure how much Clair sells their unit for.

http://store.autotoys.com/cgi-bin/wfp53024.storefront/618444147/Product/View/OEMAUDI8</a

Is your car a 98 or a 98.5 ?
The early 98 cars had a Delta radio (manufactured by Alpine). The volume **** is located on the left of the unit.
If you have this radio you need to get the OEM changer. Any dealer could get it for you, but Clair would probably get you the best price.
If your car is a 98.5, then you probably have the Concert radio, with the volume **** located in the center. The headunit is made by Blaupunkt, and the CD changer is made by Panasonic.
You can get the OEM Panasonic changer from Clair, for $260 or so.
Or you can get a Panasonic changer from Crutchfield, Autotoys, or anyone else for that matter, and you'll also need a Panasonic-Audi wiring adapter -- available from Crutchfield.
My car is a 98.5 and I opted for the OEM changer, purchased from Clair.
Good luck,
Peter

Re: Is your car a 98 or a 98.5 ?
Would you happen to know if the head-units are swappable between the 98 and 98.5 models? Is there much difference between the Delta and the Bose models for this year? Do you have a piccie of the Blaupunkt model?
I really dislike the Delta deck in my 98. The buttons all look alike, and the display is partially hidden by the steering wheel when I look down.
I was considering an aftermarket, but I do like the wide profile of this deck. In my mind, a narrower model wouldn't look quite right. Maybe I'm just smoking crack, though...
