CDO LOAD message ?!

CDO LOAD message ?!

getting the above error message after pressing mode button to switch to CD player.
Unit is a standard fit audi 6 cd multi-changer on A4 1.8T Sport 1999.
Multi-player scans discs when cartridge is loaded.
Anyone any idea what this error means?

its not recognizing the disks look for something simple

like putting the disks in upside down or the cartridge in backwards...

Thanks for this but why should it not recognise the disks...they are CDs and it is a CD player?!
Also..didn't think it was possible to put the cartridge in backwards.
Any other ideas?

I often put disks in upside-down in the cartridge, have you tried them both ways?

I have tried them both ways but still get the CDO (or CD0) message displayed on the HU.

I'm going to take it to a car audio specialist to see if they have any ideas. I'm hoping it is something simple like a loose wire at the back of the HU. Contacted the Audi dealer where the car was purchased and they quoted £80 per hour to have a look...thanks a lot!
Anyway reading through the forum it would appear that the multi-changer is prone to many faults!
If the fix for this is expensive the I may go for a front loading MP3 player and ditch the CD multiplayer!
