Default This is driving me crazy...

... is it easier to just hook up an MD player's line out to an audio system?

The day I see a MD player dash unit that doesn't look like crap will be the first anniversary of Mercedes - I mean pigs - flying...

Default Hey Cameron...

Two comments for you...

The MD player that AlexD had in his car (actually he took the MD out of his A4 and put it into his XTerra) looked quite nice. I'm pretty particular with the look of a dashboard, and I liked the way it looked. It was a Sony, but I don't remember the model#.

Secondly, I love your comment on Mercedes.
Can I ask you a favor ? Take a look at the thread which I started in the A4 forum.
I jokingly called myself an "idiot" because I mistakenly used an automatic car wash. And some hotheaded obnoxious MB owner took offense to what I posted, and wrote a really offensive post in response. I'd love to hear what you have to say about it.

Thanks,
Peter

Default There is a indash MD+CD one din unit from Panasonic which looks.....

like the CQ-DF600U for the model year 2000. We brought 6 unit from Japan last year and still got one left in our shop. also, we might be getting another pionner MD/CD unit from Japan/HK which looks like the Premier P920.

Those units doesnt look too bad in my opinion.

Default As Peter mentioned, Alex has a Sony that is quite nice. However...

...I don't think it's a model that is still in production. I'll try and find a picture and email it to you.

Nakamich is the only manufacturer that I know makes a nice looking MD player at this time. It's the MD-45z, and it's very nice looking. I assume it has selectible amber/green illumination like other Nak products. Check out their website.
Charles

Default Hey guys... I did have the C7900 as ChuckH and Peter V pointed out...

It didn't have a dead red match (not even red) but the overall
look in the dash was still fine in my opinion. It depends on
what look you want. This unit had a clean look compared to
the other MD HUs out there.

Good luck!

Default Next question: anywhere to buy an MD-45z online?

This looks like a great unit and would match the green/black LCD dash in the TT... anyone know of an e-tailer to check for this unit?

Thanks in advance, as always.

In London missing his TT,

Default Try Soundhabit.com, as they sell Nakamichi products. I'm not...

...sure they have the MD-45z listed, but it wouldn't hurt to ask them. I'm going to buy a CD-45z and MB-70 from them soon, I think. Mark's CD-45z problem seems to be an isolated case. I've heard from several people who are really happy with the CD-45z, and a friend of mine who sells them hasn't had one come back in 8 months. Never know though! I have no clue how the MD-45z is.

Innovative Audio in Bellevue should have them, but you'll pay up the butt for it (probably $100 more than soundhabit). IA's number is 425-885-2814.
Charles
