Default Head Up Display

Hi,

I want to put head up display in my car. The original idea was to buy VGA LCD panel projector and point it up. So I will see the reflection of it on the windshield. I have tryed it and disapointed - it reflect twice from inside and outside surface of the glass. so I see double picture, shifted by 6mm or so.

Then I found, that GMC uses special glass for the HUD. Unfortunalty I cannot do it for my windshield .

My next idea is to find some polirizing filter. I am sure LCD panel polarizes light, so I can put some transparent filter on inside of windshield and have only one reflection. Any idea, where I can find the filter?

Also anybody has any information on HUDs in general. A lot of people think it cool idea, but I do not see a lot of implimentaiotns. Thanks.

Default Look into the older Nissan 240z >>

Early/ Mid 90s -- The coupe version had a small HUD for the Speed. There was a small piece of transparent film that was on the windshield. It seemed to work ok, you can prob poke around a little and find out what they used.

I remember some car audio people who used this concept for small radio HUDs

Keep us posted!
