Default do it, you wont regret it.

ive used raammat and dynamat extreme. raammat was much easier to install.

Default If you're applying an insulator to the underside of the hood you're actually trapping the heat in.

Any type of foil or foam type barrier will act as an insulator on the underside of the hood. The insulator will keep the heat from the engine inside the engine compartment instead of letting it out by using the metal surface as a heatsink. Yes the radiator is there to cool the engine but it is specified for a specific load. Increasing the load decreases the efficiency of the radiator.
