IPOD Adapter

IPOD Adapter
Can anyone recommend a good IPOD adapter for my 1998 a4 quattro with bose. I would like one that plugs directly into the CD changer harness in the back and that will play through the factory bose headunit. I looked at the dension one, but its is very expensive ($200+ on ebay) and I want a lower costing one. Thanks!

I paid $150 for the Denison IceLink through www.enfigcarstereo.com...
...and love it.
Enfig has a NUMBER of options available and they're prices are very good. Check my sig for a link to the Tech Article I did on the IceLink install -- some good reading for you. One thing to factor in about the Denison pricing is that the price includes an excellent cradle -- something other soutions do NOT. That will cost you $30-40 extra for other solutions. Makes the real price of the IceLink much more competitive.

Yea i read your article it was really good but I cant seem to find IceLink on the site you gave me..
Also, maybe I could consider jsut getting a 13pin cd cable to AUX adapter...would this work? If so could i still controll the ipod through the factory stereo?

Denison has replaced the IceLink with a product called the DiceLink.
Similar features. Still includes a great cradle. Still for around $150 at www.enfigcarstereo.com. No, I don't work for those guys. ;o)
I'd recommend against the 13 pin (trunk connector) to simple Aux (RCA connector) audio connection for the following reasons...
- No control of iPod through head unit and/or steering wheel controls (as with the IceLink/DiceLink)
- No charging of iPod
- No cradle
- Inferior audio if you are connecting to the iPod through the headphone jack. The "line out" signal acquired through the docking connector (as is used by the IceLink/DiceLink) provides better audio.
The last point can be addressed if you get a mini-dock that gives you line-out audio through the docking connecor, but that will cost you enough extra money to probably negate any cost savings.

The DiceLink does not come with a cradle, which is something to take into account
I will forget about the cd changer cable to AUX adapter. Now i just need to find this dice Link and fashion together somekind of cradle...
