Default Ipod Connection Options???

I have a TT with factory Bose / Concert tape style head unit with factory 6 disk changer. I want to add my ipod to the factory head unit but I want to also keep the 6 disk changer. I don't want to use a tape adapter to conenct with the ipod. What other options do I have that will retain quality ipod sound throught the Bose system?
Links or photos would be helpful.

Default i shall answer your question... with yet another question

Just curious, why not the tape adapter? It provides very clear and crisp sound.

You could go with FM transmitter, but that one is harder to fine-tune. As you travel from place to place, you may get interference from other sources (other radio stations), which may require you to change the frequency. A PITA.

Default Just looking for a clean install, no wires hanging than can be seen...>>>

I read somewhere that maybe a selector switch can be wired to choose between the trunk cd chanegr and the ipod. If this is possible, I would like to see more info and wiring diagram on this selector switch.

Default I've installed a few Harman Kardon Drive + Play units and really liked them

great operation. good sound quality. I especially like the remote display feature. The biggest downside for me is the lack of a color screen.

Harman Kardon unit

Default Why is it important to keep the CD changer when you have the iPod?

You may want to check my sig for the writeup on the IceLink install.

I would definitely recommend a hard wired solution over the tape adapter. I've used both and there is a HUGE difference in sound quality. FM transmitters are only appropriate for those happy with FM quality sound.

If you follow the IceLink writeup in my sig, you'll find references to other articles that write up various hard wired solutions.

Good luck!

Default I rather keep the CD changer because....>>>

when I have a buddy hop in my car with me, they tend to say..."hey, I got this CD, you gotta hear it"
Well what good is me wanting to hear a CD, new or old if I can't play it without my cd changer and only have a tape deck head unit.

just explain to your buddy that his music isn't important, and he is now in your car.

Default Good reason....

I have a Symphony I head unit so it already has a CD player in it, thus taking care of "guest" music.

For you, I'd suggest looking at the USAspec product (they offer one with an AUX input). Your best bet will be to give the folks at enfigcarstereo.com a call. They are very helpful, offer the product you probably need, and have pretty good pricing.

Good luck!
